Project 6 Futuristic Collage
Futuristic Collage
Blending Past and Future in Architecture

Size: 11.7 x 16.5 inches

Medium: Pencil on paper, Adobe Photoshop

Date: 2024

Work was completed independently

This project investigates the fusion of historical and futuristic architectural elements to create a hybrid vision of urban space. By merging imagery of traditional Hong Kong architecture with speculative, futuristic forms, the collage reflects on how the past can influence the future of design. Central to the work is the contrast between a local reservoir near my home, called Tai Tam reservoir, symbolizing the heritage and functionality of old Hong Kong, and a futuristic dome that embodies innovation and forward-thinking architecture. Using both digital and analog drawing techniques, I blended these opposing elements into a cohesive architectural narrative, highlighting the ongoing dialogue between tradition and modernity. This visual exploration demonstrates how the built environment can evolve while honoring its historical roots, sparking a conversation about integrating the old with the new and how architecture can adapt to future needs without losing its connection to the past.
