Project 2 Distortion of Inhabitant
Distortion of Inhabitant
Photography, Photoshop, Tonal Drawing

Size: 11.7 x 16.5 inches

Medium: Pencil on paper

Date: 2024

In this project, I analyzed the experience of inhabiting shared spaces, focusing on my bedroom with my brother. To challenge my perception of this familiar environment, I reimagined the space through photographs. Using Photoshop, I created a photomontage that distorted the room, altering its proportions while capturing the entire space. This distortion changed not just the visual representation but also my understanding of how we inhabit familiar environments.

I further developed the project with tonal drawings to explore shading and its effect on space perception. The photomontage allowed me to experiment with light and shadow, revealing dimensions of the room I hadn’t noticed before. This project emphasized that architecture is not static; our perception of space shifts based on how we observe it. I enjoyed how the distortion made the room feel unfamiliar and opened new possibilities for reimagining spaces in design.
